Gene Leon WhaleyCHILLICOTHE: Gene Leon Whaley, 82, of Chillicothe, passed away on January 2, 2017 at the Vineyards at Concord, Frankfort after a brief illness. He was born on August 6, 1934 in Circleville, Ohio. On October 21, 1955, he married the love of his life, Joan R. Whaley, who preceded him in death on September 15, 2015. He was also predeceased by his parents, Evert and Mary (Albright) Whaley. Gene proudly served his country in the
US Navy and was stationed on the USS Platte during the
Korean War. He is survived by his beloved children, Sherry (Rick) Stevens, Mark (Carla) Whaley, and Marvin (Linda) Whaley; grandchildren, Crystal (John) Hughes, Jill (Jamie) Unger, Matthew (Tiffany) McGee, and Joy (Tom) Brown; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Lump, and several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Rev. Barry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours will be held at Hill's on Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Gene's name to the Green Township Fire Department (P.O.
