Gene Apodaca, 60, a resident of Las Vegas passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 in Las Vegas.He was born on April 6, 1956 to Prudencio Apodaca and Odelia Paiz Apodaca in Encino.Gene served in the United States Army. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He enjoyed being with his family and friends was always willing to lend a helping hand when his family or friends needed. He enjoyed playing the guitar, going fishing, going for wood, making arts and crafts and playing pool. Gene enjoyed very much when his son had a project to do around his house and he would come help out with it. He would ask his son "what are you doing on your day off?' If his son didn't have anything to do, he would say "lets split that wood you have" or just say something that he thought he could help out with. He was known to A.J. as his cheeto grandpa for always giving him Cheetos. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Prudencio and Odelia Apodaca; brothers, Pete Apodaca, Gilbert Apodaca, George Apodaca and Augustine Apodaca; and grandson, William Aragon.He is survived by his son, Chris Apodaca and wife, Josephine, of Las Vegas; daughters, Cheryl Apodaca and Roman, Elizabeth Apodaca and Cordy, all of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Toby, Roman, Secundino, Destiny (Antonio), Estrella, Esperanza, Anthony (Destinee), Andrew (Ashley), C.J, Alicia, Cristabel, Anastasia and Ariana; great-grandchildren, Teejay, Ernestina, A.J. and Arianna; brother, Demecio Apodaca and wife, Mary, of Los Lunas; twin sister, Martha Phillips of Encino; sisters, Emma Cordova and husband, Richard, of Lamy, Jean Haley of Belen, and Antonia Apodaca of Santa Rosa; special friend, Don Seuntjens, of Las Vegas; numerous nieces, nephews, Tocallo Eugene Apodaca "number 2" other relatives and many friends.Cremation has taken place and burial of cremains will take place at 10 a.m. on Nov. 29 in Encino at the Apodaca Family Plot.Visit Rogers Mortuary's website at
