It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Fonnesbeck, 59, of Lewiston, Idaho. He passed away in his home on October 7, 2024, after battling lingering health issues.

Gary was born on March 18, 1965, in Brigham City, Utah to Bruce and Dixie Fonnesbeck.

Gary grew up in Springfield, Oregon, With his siblings, where he attended high school. He advanced his educational career by venturing to Lane Community College, Oregon State University, and Lewis and Clark State where he excelled on baseball scholarships and graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree. Which led him to a very successful self-made general construction business, right here in the heart of the Valley.

Gary was a beloved member of the community who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and infectious smile and laugh. Gary had a passion for the outdoors and sharing his love with his family. This included fishing, hunting, and chasing his children in all endeavors they indulged their hearts in. Gary had a passion for life and a love for adventure, always seeking new experiences and challenges and most of those adventures in recent years he had his Golden Doodle Remi by his side. Wherever Gary was Remi was not far behind him He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Bruce, Dixie, & family….we are all so saddened to learn of the passing of your son, Gary. It’s never easy to lose family members & especially our own children. We didn’t know Gary, but it sounds like he was successful with many things in his life & had many who loved & appreciated his gifts & talents. As you grieve, remember that we do so because have so deeply loved the one we grieve for - grief is part of love. Please know our hearts & thoughts are with you through this very difficult time. So sorry to hear of Gary's passing. Forrest called me & informed me of the details. Please accept the condolences of my branch of the Fonnesbeck clan. As one of Herm & Melvina's surviving kids, please know Karen, Forrest, Cordell & I share in your loss & bereavement as Gary's parents. Our thoughts & prayers are with U all. I remember how proud Uncle Verd was to be Gary's grandpa---so happy for Gary's success in baseball, etc. ⚾️ Just never forget we Fonnesbecks are always here to support each other.
