Gary Smith, a beloved resident of Stonington, Illinois, passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on August 2, 1947, Gary was a cherished member of the community. Many could find Gary watching NASCAR with a beer in hand or a shot of Fireball. He was a dedicated friend and neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Gary attended Stonington First Baptist Church until his health hindered his attendance in recent months.

Gary is survived by his daughters, Brandy Kunz and Mandy Early (Kimball) and bonus daughter Georgia Harding (Kevin); sister-in-law Tammy Smith and brother Arthur “Mack” Smith, his many grandchildren Erin, Ashley, Jessica, Alesha, Jesse, Austin (Amy), Chance, Anthony Jr., Olivia, Camryn, Isabella, Alexis, Savanna (Robert), Miranda, Kaitlyn, Justin, and Chandler; and great-grandchildren Kaidon, Journie, Aubry, Hazel, Carter, Oliver, James, Joshua, Kynzley, Knox, Kali, Synceir “Rambo”, Beckham, Brooklyn, Ellie, Del Ray, Delilah, Madi, Macklen, Mylee, and Maizie. He leaves behind several nephews and nieces, as well as many close friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alberta (Workman) Smith; brothers Dennis Smith and Gregory Smith; sister Shirley Smith; nephews Robert Smith and John Wayne Smith; the love of his life Judy and son Shane Smith.

Gary will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will forever be irreplaceable. May he rest in peace.
