He was 67 years old. He was born on February 11, 1950, in Fresno CA, to Fred Sr. and Toshiko (Tea) Sakasegawa. He was the eldest of 5 children.He moved to Salinas, CA where he happily spent the last 64 years. He attended Mission Park Elementary, Washington Middle School and Salinas High. He continued his education at San Jose State, where he majored in Civil Engineering. Fred had a magnetic charm that everyone was drawn to. He was a generous and compassionate man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and papa who took pride in watching his grandchildren's events. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the SF 49ers and Giants and most recently became an Arizona Wildcat fan. He enjoyed going for long weekend rides to his favourite destinations, eating great food and drinking fine wine. His passing leaves a void in the lives of those he touched.He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sakasegawa Sr. and Toshiko (Tea) Sakasegawa; and his brother, Bill Sakasegawa.Fred is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda of Salinas; daughter, Chrissy Rivera (Paul) of Salinas; son, Jason Sakasegawa (Stephanie) of Union City, CA; brothers, Mark Sakasegawa (Barbara) of Rancho Murrieta, CA and Jon Sakasegawa (Lisa) of Vacaville, CA; sister, Faye Amiya (Mark) of Salinas; and his beloved grandchildren, Aireal, Paul Jr., Joseph and Stella, as well as numerous family members.His family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of the family and friends, near and far, who have called, sent messages and have been by their side during this difficult time.A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Harvestlands Foursquare Church, 327 Pajaro St. Salinas CA. 93901. Funeral Arrangements by Struve and Laporte.Online condolences to www.struveandlaporte.com
