Fred Kay VosburgSeptember 29, 1932August 20, 2017Fred Kay Vosburg , 84, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Renown Medical Center in Reno, NV surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born on September 29, 1932 to Cecil Victor and Lota Mary (
Smith) Vosburg in Declo, Idaho where he grew up and attended school. In high school, Fred was an excellent athlete, lettering in football, basketball and track. Following his graduation in 1951, he attended the University of Idaho and Utah State University.On August 10, 1953 Fred married his sweetheart Barbara Lou Fries, also a native of Declo. They have three children. Fred worked on numerous projects in Washington, Idaho and Northern Nevada during his 15 years with the United States Bureau of Reclamation, including the completion of Stampede Dam in Truckee, California. He resigned in 1970 and settled permanently in Sparks. After 28 years with the Washoe County Engineers Office, Fred retired in 1998.Fred was an outdoorsman. He was a rock hound and took up metal detecting, prospecting and gold panning as hobbies. He loved camping in his trailer with his family and traveling with his wife. Each year he enjoyed growing and tending a large garden. In the final years of his life, Fred selflessly devoted himself to the care of his wife.Fred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barabara Vosburg, Sparks, NV; his children, Fred G. Vosburg, Reno, NV; Debbie (Steve) Sydenham, Sparks, NV; Gary Vosburg, Valley Center, CA; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial will be held in his honor Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Declo Cemetery in Declo, Idaho.
