Frank Lloyd DurhamMarch 31, 1939--December 14, 2016After a courageous fight with an unexpected heart virus, Frank Lloyd Durham (77) passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at his home in Sierra Vista. His wife, Maria, was by his side.Frank was born on March 31, 1939 in Deming, New Mexico. While stationed in Ulm, Germany in the Air Force, he met Maria. She really did not like him at first, but she really liked his cowboy boots. After a year's courtship, they got married in Germany. They were married 56 years. When Frank returned to the states, he worked for the National Cash Register Company and later started his own business repairing business machines. After retiring from his repair business, he returned to active duty in Hawaii and the Middle East. His final tour of duty was working intelligence for the Border Patrol. Frank retired from the Air Force. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed electronics, especially building computers and outfitting his home for solar power. Frank, Maria, and their pet dogs enjoyed their summer home in the New Mexico Mountains near Silver City. Frank was preceded in death by his father Carl Durham, stepfather Frank H. Griffin and mother Mattie E. (Harper) Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Maria Durham, brother James and wife Karen Durham, and sister Maudra and husband Ralph McLaughlin. He had one daughter Carrol and husband Dale (Bud) Bercich. He has one granddaughter, Shelley Steventon. He has four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
