Francis “Frank” KronewitterJan. 10, 1931 - Oct. 23, 2016SOUTH BEND - Francis “Frank” Kronewitter, 85, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Millers Merry Manor, New Carlisle.Frank was born on January 10, 1931 in Mishawaka to Bernard and Henriette (Raugh) Kronewitter. On October 17, 1996 he married Agnes De Meulenaere. She precedes him in death, in addition to his parents; a sister, Phillis Day and a brother, Don Kronewitter and a sister, Doris Siders.Left to cherish his memory are his children, Karen (Edward Jr.) Atkinson and Rick (Gail) Kronewitter, all of South Bend; sisters, Clara (Terry) Deal of Elkhart; brothers, James “Roy” Kronewitter of South Bend, Wallace “Bud” Kronewitter of Mishawaka and Harold “Barney” Kronewitter of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Edward and Nathan Atkinson and Brian, Kevin and Sean (Emily) Kronewitter; great grandchild, Kaiden Stowe; and former wives, Betty Colleen Stephens and Mary Sizemore.Frank worked as a melt deck operator for Wheelabrator for many years before retiring in 1984. He went on to work part time at the Regal bowling alley and as a groundskeeper for Park Jefferson apartments. He was a member of the De Amici's club, the American Legion and the Eagles Legion. Frank was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and loved to fish. He was a highly skilled woodworker, often gifting his family members with handmade woodcrafts, like clocks and coat racks. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with services following immediately at 7:00 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.
