Floyd Theodore SwansonMOUNT VERNON: Floyd Theodore Swanson, age 85, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his residence. He was born on March 13, 1931 in Benson, MN, to the late Gustafson and Martha (Matheson) Swanson. Floyd graduated from Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson, MN. He has been a successful businessman in Mount Vernon, OH, for over 50 years. Floyd loved to meet his friends at the Southside Diner for food and social time. His greatest enjoyment was playing softball and visiting the Smokey Mountains in TN. Floyd was a member of the North Knoxville Seventh-day Adventist Church in Knoxville, TN. His belief and great hope were in the return of Jesus. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Patricia (Hickman) Swanson; son, Rowan Swanson of OH; daughters, Dawn Swanson of WA, Cheri Emery of OR; step-son, Chris (Lisa) Stokes of CA; step-daughter, Cheryl Haggerty of CA; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Merv (Carol) Swanson of MN.Besides his parents, Floyd is preceded in death by his daughter, Denea Swanson, brothers, Robert Swanson and Elmer Swanson; and sisters, Ethel Flowers and Vera Preble.
