TOPEKA — Ezra Fry, 89, of Topeka, died Wednesday, Dec 30, 2015 at 12:15 a.m. at his residence. He was born on Oct. 10, 1926, in Reno County, Kansas, to Noah J. and Mary (Bontrager) Fry. On Feb. 24, 1951 in Goshen he married Jeanette Steury. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2012. Mr. Fry was a member of the Emma Mennonite Church, Topeka. He had worked as a farmer, mechanic, and had retired from the mobile homes industry after 30 years. He provided taxi service for the Amish community and was a blood donor for the American Red Cross. He had served in the Army Corps of Engineers as a non-combatant during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are four daughters, Joetta (John) Reffett of LaGrange, Cheryl (Larry) Kellett of Angola, Donna (Tim) Hite of Shipshewana and Rita (Tony) Long of Auburn; a son, Dale (Pam) Fry of LaGrange; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jake (Mary Ellen) Fry of Shipshewana. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Fry and sister, Sarah Miller. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Emma Mennonite Church, 1900 South 600 West Topeka, with Rev. Gene Hartman officiating. Calling will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to funeral services Saturday. Burial, with graveside military rites, will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
