Heaven gained a loving soul. It is with the deepest regrets that we inform you that our mother and grandmother, Evelyn Kay French, 73, passed away on Wednesday, September 9th , 2020 surrounded by her three children and four of her granddaughters. She formerly resided in Franklin, KY and in 2015 she relocated to become a resident of Twin Rivers Senior Living Campus in Richardson, TX.
Evelyn was born at home, in Robertson County, on September 29, 1946 to the late Delmore and Nell Edison Goostree. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Ann Jernigan, Kay Goostree Stoope, and by her brother, Phillip Hendley Goostree.
Evelyn graduated from East Robertson High School in 1964 where she played half-court basketball and was a cheerleader. As a young lady, she was first runner up in the Robertson County Dairy Princess contest. Her response that milk was fattening may have cost her the win. Throughout her life, she worked at several financial banks. She was cheerful, spunky, loving, and sometimes (unadmittedly) stubborn. She loved when her family was all gathered together. Let us not forget her passion to collect antiques and books. She loved butterflies, cats, and peony flowers. She had a great love for music, and it was a joy for her to sing. She was a young farm girl who grew up into a simple woman with so much love in her heart. Evelyn seemed to only hurry when it was time to get to church, as she loved the Lord. We are blessed by the impact she had on our lives. We thank God for the forgiveness of our sins and the promise of eternal life. While we may forever mourn her loss, we take joy knowing in full confidence that she was received at heaven’s gates.
Evelyn is survived by her former husband John French of Franklin KY; her daughters: Stephanie Jenkins of Overland Park, KS, and Audrey French of Dallas, TX; by her son: Stephen Austin and wife Christine of West Chester, OH, by her brother and sister-in-law: Jeff and Jonna Goostree of Cross Plains, by her sister and brother-in-law: Dianne and Ronald Baker of Cross Plains, by her grandchildren: Ashley Renner and husband Brandon, Reo Tiffany and fiancé Lissha McFarland, Savannah Tiffany, Erik Austin, Delaney Austin, Logan York, Preston Blake, Cody Blake, Jasmine Blake, and Justice Flora, and by 3 great grandchildren.
The family asks that her memory be honored by making donations to Aglow International (aglow.org/give) or donations may be sent Sparkman Funeral Home.
