LAURINBURG — Mrs. Evelyn Odom Cottingham Bundy, 101, passed away at her home on Oct. 30, 2015.
Evelyn was born on Nov. 29, 1913 in Robeson County, daughter of the late Jeremiah "Jerry" and Mary Hodges Odom. She was preceded in death by her husbands, the late Glenn B. Cottingham and Preston B. Bundy.
She was a devoted homemaker and retired after 20 years of service with McGraw Edison. She served as a longtime faithful member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching, especially cardinals. Mrs. Bundy was an excellent cook and loved caring for her family and others. She was a wonderful Christian wife, mother and grandmother who will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter Eve Marie Smith, her brothers Lorenzo Odom and Chesley Odom, her sisters Lillian O. Keller and Ruth O. Wiggins, and her grandson Kent Bradshaw "Brad" Northington.
Mrs. Bundy is survived by her daughters Evelyn H. Harris of Raleigh, Barbara Ann Northington of Perkasie, Pennsylvania,and Betty Jean Weeks of Laurinburg, her grandchildren Kimberly Ann Rausch, James A. Northington II, Theresa Dawn Weeks Driggers, John P. Weeks, Debra Jean Weeks Liles, and William B. Harris, great-grandchildren Emily Weeks, Andy Weeks, J.R. Driggers, Wendy Driggers, Clint Blackburn, Jenna Liles Miller, Joe Liles, Jamie Liles, Will Harris, Whitney Harris, and Chelsea Harris, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Sylvia Ball. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. at the church. A private interment will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made in her memory to Hospice of Scotland County, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
