Evalyn Kilgo HoffmannGreenvilleEvalyn Kilgo Hoffmann, 65, passed away on October 27, 2016, in Greenville, SC. Evalyn was born on January 30, 1951, in Florence, SC, the daughter of the late Robert Lawton Kilgo and Evalyn Selby Johnson Kilgo of Darlington. She graduated in 1973 from Clemson University, where she was a member of the Chi Omega women's fraternity. Prior to her career as a real estate appraiser, she taught horseback riding lessons at Cleveland Park Stables and bred American Saddlebred show horses. Evalyn worked with the YWCA and volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels of Greenville and Hands On Greenville. She was also an avid bridge player.She is survived by her daughters Susan Hoffmann Merrill of Greenville and Jennifer Hoffmann Roach of New York, her grandchildren Michael Park Merrill and Cameron Armstrong Merrill, both of Greenville, and her brother Robert Lawton Kilgo, Jr. of Darlington. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home's downtown chapel, located at 639 North Main Street in Greenville. Dr. John Adams will preside over the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to Meals on Wheels of Greenville on Oregon Street. Condolences can be made through Thomas McAfee. Family members will be at their respective homes.
