Eugene R. Kikta of East Tawas, formerly of Flint, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at his home, age 69 years. Eugene was born on July 8, 1942 in Flint to Eugene and Wanda Kikta. He was employed through the City of Flint as a truck driver for many years, retiring in 1992. Eugene truly enjoyed the water and boating, and he was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He married his wife, Amy W. (nee Austin) Kikta, in Tuscola County on May 20, 1996. Together they celebrated 15 beautiful years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Amy, of East Tawas; a step-daughter, Donna (Mike) Nowasad of Holt; two grandchildren, Amanda Theolet and Brandon (Ashli) Theolet; one great granddaughter, Amelia "Mia" Theolet; one half-brother, Albert Crawford; one sister-in-law, Sandy Crawford; and cousins, Carl (Carol) Kowalcyk and their children Nick and Lisa, Carol Kowalcyk and her daughter Alexis Kowalcyk, Kenny Kikta and many other cousins. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Wanda Kikta; many brothers and sisters; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Austin. Eugene will be laid to rest in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. Funeral arrangements are by Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.
