"Gene / Bud" Gick, 89, of Monticello, passed away at 7:24 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2017, at his home with his family all around him.He was born on Tuesday, April 10, 1928, in Lafayette to the late Peter Charles and Mary Julia (Brettnacher) Gick. On May 22, 1954, in Oxford he married Roberta Jean "Bertie" Scott; she passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015.Gene/Bud had lived in Benton, Carroll, and White County areas. He had been in failing health for the last several months. Gene/Bud was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post of Delphi. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and going on vacations. Gene/Bud very much enjoyed going to Kinser's Bakery of Monticello for Pat's biscuits and gravy. He was a United States Army Veteran. Gene/Bud most especially enjoyed spending time with all his family.Surviving are daughters, Mary Lea (husband Ron) Scowden of Delphi, Marcia (husband Linzy) Donoho of Monticello, Marie (husband Tim) Marvin of Idaville, and Michele (husband Steve) Godlove of Monticello; grandchildren, Jon (wife Stacy) Scowden, Jason (companion Renee Burkett) Scowden, Scott (wife Amanda) Marvin, Michael (wife Jessica) Godlove, and Matt Godlove; great grandchildren, Tyland Sparks, Christa Marvin, Eli Barrett, Vance and Kyla Godlove; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.Gene / Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Charles and Mary Julia) Gick, Sr.; wife, Roberta Jean "Bertie" Gick; granddaughter, Heather Marie "Heather Belle" Marvin; and siblings, Hererietta (husband Joseph) Benner, Herman (wife Iveden) Gick, Elizabeth (husband Harry) Hankins, Edward Gick, Peter Charles (wife Loretta) Gick, Jr., Arthur (wife Isabelle) Gick, Stella (husband George)

Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2017, with Father David Rasner of the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church of Monticello officiating. Burial with Full Military Rites by the Delphi American Legion Post will be at the Brookston Cemetery in Brookston.Memorials may be given to the Heather Marvin Scholarship, c/o Twin Lakes Education Foundation.
