We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Ethylene McCallister, who left us on January 9, 2025, in Douglasville, Georgia United States.
Ethylene was born on May 23, 1951, to her loving parents Burt Terry and Arlene McAllister of Jacksonville Mississippi but later moved to Douglasville, Georgia. Ethel was the 4th child the second girl out of 8 children. She was the proud mother of four children: Vaneice Terry, Burt Terry Jr., Sonya Walsh, and Jarrod Williams.
Ethylene's pride and joy were her six grandchildren: Nubia grice., Avion grice, Daquan Terry, Alexis Terry., Mj Hicks., Alana Hicks,who brought light and laughter into her life.
She attended H.Hapeville high school and graduated in 1968 before continuing her education at the University of Georgia, where she graduated becoming a 2nd grade teacher in 1975.
Ethylene dedicated her life to education, working at Liberty Groves Schools until her retirement in 2012. She was a pillar in the community, actively involved in the Giving Back to Our Community organization and many church organizations and fundraisers. Ethel did not marry but held a special place in her heart for JD Hickman she is reunited with him in peace.
Throughout her career, Ethylene was recognized for her dedication to teaching, earning the title of Teacher of the Month over 40 times.
When she wasn't shaping young minds, Ethylene enjoyed hobbies like knitting, sewing, and participating in Bible study groups. Her love for her family and community was evident in all that she did.
Ethel leaves behind three siblings Flora (Robert) Hutchinson, Eugene(Danette) Terry, Londale Terry. As well as her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins she’ll miss greatly.
Join us at faith Baptist church January 16, 2025 from 5:00-8:30 PM for visitation services and again January 17,2025 for funeral and buriel services. Funeral will be held at Faith Baptist church College Park, GA. Let’s celebrate the impact and the life of sweet Ethylene Mccallister.
