It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Esther Odera on January 16, 2025, in Nairobi, Nairobi County, Kenya. Born on March 14, 1962, Esther was the loving daughter of Oduya Oboyo Jaramongi and Rosaline Atieno Omondi-Jaramongi. She was also the devoted spouse of Okath Omondi Odera, whom she married in the year 1980.

Esther is survived by her five children, Okoth Elijah Sunga Odera, Okinyi Nancy Odera-Tadesse, Obiero Daniel Omondi Odera, Linda Faith Awuor Odera, and Achieng Tina Anyango Odera. She was a dedicated grandmother to her three grandchildren.

Esther attended Loreto Convent Msongari high school, graduating in 1979, before furthering her education at Maseno University, where she graduated in 1983. She dedicated her career to education, working at Alliance Girl's high School until her retirement in 2016. Esther was also actively involved in the Nyumbani Children's Home Kisumu organization and was honored with TSC Merit Awards for her service.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Esther enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, traveling, and volunteering. She brought joy and kindness to all those she encountered and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.

Esther passed away after a courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
