Ernest Ray GuevaraSan AngeloErnest Ray Guevara went to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at his home in San Angelo, Texas. Ernest was born on Feb. 26, 1960, to Henry Mora Guevara and Gloria Ramos in Ballinger, Texas. He attended Ballinger ISD and played football in his high school years where he graduated a Ballinger Bearcat in 1979. While attending school he worked at Brunson Gin Mill, Dry Mfg. Co., Lawrence Concrete Cement Co. and CoHen Field Laborer. After graduation he attended San Angelo Barber College where he graduated and received his license. He started out in Corpus Christi and then moved to San Angelo where he was known as "The Barber" at Ernest Barber Shop which he owned and operated on 29th Street and Chadbourne for approximately thirty-plus years. In his off time he was a USSSA umpire, he coached his kids, Jeremy and Priscilla in flag football and basketball and he played the game he loved, softball. He was a Board Member of the San Angelo Billiard Association. He loved listening to music, barbecuing and playing pool. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, son, family and friends. He visited Glen Meadows Church and Gallale.Ernest is survived by his longtime live in sweetheart, Barbara Garcia; step son, Jacob Garcia; daughter, Priscilla and husband Robert Osuji; son, Jeremy Guevara; father, Henry; step mom, Linda Guevara; sister, Vicki and husband Leo Garcia, III; brother, Clyde Escobar, III; half sister, Melissa Guevara; seven grandchildren, James, Mariah, Jonathon, Jalen, Robert, Jr., Mercy Praise and Zayden.He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Ramos Lopez; step father, Isidro Lopez, Jr; son, Christopher Che Guevara; brothers, Eddie R. Guevara and Henry Guevara, Jr.; nephew, Bobby Jam Guevara; maternal grandparents, Jo and Guadalupe Ramos.Visitation will be held all day Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at the funeral home with family present 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. Pallbearers will be Clyde Escobar, Leo Garcia lll, Frank Baca, Mike Patino, Nick Aggurri and Jason Adcok. Honorary pallbearer will be James Mayville ll.The family gives special thanks to all the nurses and aids at Interim Hospice for all there support!Don't grieve for me, for Now I'm free; I took his hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all. If my parting has left a void; then fill it with remembered joy. My life's been full, I savored much; good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; ah yes, these things I too will miss. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me.
