EIder Emmanuel K. Avornyo, who hailed from Bakpa Avornyo Kope in the south Tornu district of the Volta Region, was born on January 4, 1924, in Klikor, Volta Region. His parents were Mr. Ahedor Avornyo from Avornyo Kope and Madam Norvieto from Kpewu, both of blessed memory.

EDUCATION: 

He received his early primary education at Asukorkor and later completed and obtained his Middle School Leaving Certificate at Kadjebi Senior School, now in the Oti Region, where his family had migrated to in the early 1940s.

Working Experience: 

While in school, he was also actively involved in farming activities, which was the main reason for the family's migration from the South to the Mid­ Forest Zone. Together with his older brother, he got involved in cocoa and coffee farming. After obtaining his MSLC, he continued farming with his relatives until 1961 when he decided to relocate to Worawora. 

There, he became one of the young and vibrant entrepreneurs, operating a spare parts shop in the market square. In late 1963, he relocated his business to Jasikan, where he continued as a general merchant and combined it with farming activities, which was his passion.

However, in the late 80s, he solely focused on farming until old age caught up with him.

Conversion And Christian Life: 

Elder E. K. Avornyo was initially a member of the E. P. Church but later converted to the Church of Pentecost. He was baptized by the late Rev. James Mensah, the then District Pastor, on June 23, 1979. On June 6, 1980, he was ordained as a Deacon and appointed as the District Treasurer due to his trustworthiness. In 1984, he was ordained as an Elder and appointed as a member of the District

Executive Committee.

His role in the construction of the Central Chapel was an inspiration to both church members and non-members.He was often seen collecting stones from the nearby mountain, breaking them into chippings, and working tirelessly until the Central Chapel was completed in 1994. His dedication and zeal earned him the name"The Nehemiah of Jasikan District.

Discipline: 

Elder E. K. Avornyo was a man of discipline who did not tolerate stubbornness and laziness, which he believed were the root causes of destruction and failure in life. He ruled his household and extended his principles to his work in the church and the Presbytery

Marital Life: 

While working in Worawora, he fell in love and married his first wife, the late Madam Comfort Awunyo. They were

blessed with eight children. He was also blessed with six children with his surviving wife, Madam Stella Avornyo. Elder Avornyo did his best to raise his children in the fear of the Lord

Conclusion: 

The journey of life is like a long match through the night, surrounded by invisible foes, filled with pain and weariness, striving towards a goal that few can hope to reach. Elder E. K. Avornyo has lived his life to serve God and fought to keep the path of faith through all the changing scenes of life and has successfully completed his race and is on the verge of receiving the Crown of Glory that the Lord has prepared for

him.
