Emily Courey (née Sardy) died peacefully in her Oscoda home on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013. She was born on July 8, 1926, in Detroit to the late Mabarak and Elizabeth (Kaleel) Sardy. Emily was proceeded in death by her husband of over 63 years, Nicholas. Emily is survived by her four children, Diane (Richard Boyland), Charlotte Courey, Karen (James Bartz) and Gary (Kim) Courey; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Louise DeCiantis; brother, John Sardy; sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.Emily loved to spend time visiting with, and cooking for, her family. She will be greatly missed by all. The family received friends on Sunday, Dec. 8 at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, Troy (248-362-2500).The funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 9 at Our Lady of Redemption Church, Warren. Interment was in Mt.
