YORK TWP. Ellen F. (Burrier) Gladfelter, 80, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Conrad C. Gladfelter. Mrs. Gladfelter was born on August 10, 1934, in Baltimore, Md., and was the daughter of the late Marshall and Ruth (Pearce) Burrier. Ellen graduated from York College in 1985 with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, which she later used to start the Pilot Club. She was an administrative assistant in the nursing department for York College, and later was the secretary for the 55+ group at Yorkshire United Methodist Church, and the widow's support group. She was a member and church secretary of Zion Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women, the Red Hat Society, and numerous card clubs. She was an avid reader and had a love for books and musical theater, which she passed on to her daughters. She is survived by her two daughters, Julie Wise of Baltimore, Md., and Jane Gladfelter and her husband, Don Reed of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Justin M. Wise, Peter Mergenthaler, and Christina Mergenthaler; a great-grandson, Cody L. Wise; as well as her sister, Dorothy Jones of Evans, Ga. A funeral service to honor Ellen's life will be held at 8 p.m.on Tuesday, March 17, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Pastor Janyce Jorgensen officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m. until the start of the services. Interment will be private.
