Ellen Christine ChaversJacksonEllen "Chris" Chavers of Jackson, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 - 1:00 on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park.She was born on November 7, 1920 in Jackson. She graduated from Central High School in Jackson and attended LSU University, where she met her husband. They moved to Canton, MS where they raised their family.She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jake" Chavers of Canton, Mississippi; her parents, Ella Mae and Henry Huber of Jackson. She is survived by her three children, Paulette Holland (Steve) of Brandon, Connie Hill (Jon) of Tallahassee, Florida, and Jimmy Chavers of Dallas, Texas, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and watching her beloved Atlanta Braves play baseball.She moved to Brookdale Assisted Living Facility when her health began declining.
