Elizabeth (Betty) CousinsAGE: 85 • formerly of Sea GirtElizabeth (Betty) Cousins, 85, formerly of Sea Girt, passed away after a brief illness on March 9th, 2017 at home in Neptune City surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on Staten Island, NY on March 16, 1931. She graduated high school from Notre Dame Academy, Staten Island. She graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a BA in English Literature. She was married June 7, 1958 to Gordon M. Cousins of Westbrook, ME. Betty was on the executive training squad at Bloomingdales, NY and an editor at the Westinghouse trade journal. In the 1990's she received her CDAC and worked at both Riverview Hospital and the New Hope Foundation as a drug and alcohol counselor. She was a friend of Bill W's for over 30 years. Betty is survived by her brothers Edward Twyford of Corinth, Texas and Michael Twyford of Winter Haven, Florida. She is survived by her children: Catherine Cousins-McLeod, Portland, Oregon, Elizabeth M. Cousins, Edgewater Park, Gordon Cousins and his wife Susan, Neptune City, and Mary T. Cousins, Wanamassa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Leah Chase Crooks, Plainsboro, as well as, Seth and Luke Cousins, Neptune City. She was pre-deceased by her husband Gordon M. Cousins, her parents Edward Charles Twyford and Mary Walsh Twyford, and her sisters Mary Twyford Laszlo and Alice Adele Twyford. At Betty's request, her body has been donated to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School for the advancement of science. A memorial service will be held on a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the College of Saint Elizabeth, 2 Convent Road, Morristown, NJ 07960.
