Elizabeth Porter Bowman, 78, of Northbrook, Illinois died peacefully January 9, 2016, surrounded by her children.
Betsy was an elementary school teacher and later a tutor, but her passion and focus was being a dedicated and involved mother and grandmother. She was a woman of loyalty, integrity, opinion, curiosity and intelligence. A lifelong fan of the Cubs, Blackhawks and Bears (except Jay Cutler).
Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Bob Porter (aka Magi and Hoho) and is survived by daughter Susan Flom (Craig) of Edina, MN, sons Bill (Cathy) of Darien, CT and Peter (Laura) of Mill Valley, CA and adored grandchildren Emily, Ben, Peter, Porter, Eliza, Lily and Chloe, and beloved siblings Ty (Lee), Pam (Bill), and Bill.
A service is planned for June 18th at St. James the Less in Northfield. Please make a contribution to in her memory. One of her favorites was Minnesota Special Olympics, in which grandson Peter competes (100 Washington Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55401).
