Edward Patrick "Pat" Powers, 72 years of age, of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 30th, 2016. He was born on May 23rd, 1944 in Butte, Montana to Edward Patrick Joseph Powers and Dorothy Elizabeth (Fisher) Powers. Pat and his family moved to Seattle, Washington in 1956 where he graduated from Mount Lake Terrace High School. After high school he served in the Marine Corps Reserves, then found his calling as a Lieutenant with the City of Seattle Fire Department. During his decorated 30 year career with the department Pat received numerous awards for bravery and community service, and he was one of the very first Medic One responders in the country. Pat was recently described by a former colleague as a "fearless and respected saver of lives, often first to run in to a burning building." Upon his retirement in 1998, Pat and his wife Theresa "Terry" (Culver) Powers moved to sunny Cave Creek, Arizona so that Pat could enjoy retirement honing his golf game and lounging by the pool. Pat and Terry moved to Sun City West in 2009 where Pat continued to participate in several golf leagues, and was often seen zipping around the community on his golf cart with his trusty canine companion, Maggie. Pat had a wonderful heart, generous smile, an Irish sense of humor, and was adored by his friends and family. Pat is survived by his wife Terry and his six children, including Richard Powers and his wife Kelly; Shawn Powers and his wife Leslie; Jeff Powers; Michael Powers and his wife Tiffany; Patrick Powers and Tara Powers. Grandchildren include Tanner, Maddie, Kaitie, Emmie, Samantha, Grace and Max. He is also survived by his sister, Lana (Powers) Henn, her husband Michael, and his niece Shiloh. Pat's memorial will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m. at the Palm Ridge Recreation Center, 13800 West Deer Valley Drive, Sun City West, AZ 85375.
