Waniger, Edward M. Jr.Edward M. Waniger, Jr. A loved and devoted husband, father and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2017. He was 87 years of age.Ed, known to many as Sonny, was born on April 18, 1930 in Manitowoc, WI to Edward and Frances (Kaminski) Waniger. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949, Ed was drafted in to the Army in 1951 and served in the 19th Infantry 24th Division during the Korean War where his selfless and courageous actions saved many lives. He was honorably discharged in 1953. On April 24, 1954 Ed married Delores (Lory) M. Neilitz. They made their home in Manitowoc and were blessed with 6 wonderful children, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Ed was a journeyman electrician by day and "jack of all trades" by night, he always prevailed with every automotive, mechanical or household problem. He was a member of the West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Ed's enduring faith, colorful life philosophies and loving nature will be missed by all. Ed is survived by his loving wife Lory of 62 years; one sister: Doreen Carbon; five children: Bonney Meyer, Sebastopol, CA; Sue (Mark) Chandler, Milwaukee, WI; Beth (Mike) Steimle, Manitowoc, WI; Ricky (Joan) Waniger, La Crosse, WI; Tim (Tova) JohnPress, Austin, TX; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois, and son Michael. Cremation has occurred at the All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Glen Rezachek. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc.
