HERBERT, Edward JohnTed Herbert, husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017. He died at home, surrounded in love by his family. Ted was born on July 12, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario, the first of Albert and Mary Herbert's five children. During his life he lived in Toronto, Markham, Chatham and finally settled in Windsor, his home for over 40 years. Ted was a chartered accountant who started his own firm, which eventually became part of BDO Dunwoody Ward Mallette. Ted became a managing partner who was well respected by his colleagues and clients alike. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Margaret, and was fortunate to find love again with Fran. He leaves behind his wife, Francesca (Jacques), and his children: Joe and Carol Goulet (Alanna, Vanessa and Katrina), Michelle and Ken Locklear (Grace and Michael Scott), Sue and Craig Miller (Stephanie and Kieran) and Cathy and Andy Walsh (Ted and Tim). He will also be greatly missed by his many family members and friends. Ted described his hobbies as reading, politics and history, and said that he wished to be remembered as an honest businessman who cared deeply for his family, clients, and society. We will also remember him as a keen storyteller and an avid debater with firm opinions. He was a kind-hearted, loving and generous soul. Even near the end of his life, his sense of humour was evident as he bantered with his nurses and family. A man of faith, Ted was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus. We would like to thank everyone who helped Ted through his illness. We had hoped to have more time with him, and although that was not to be, we will cherish every moment and memory we had with our wonderful Ted. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ted's memory to the St. Vincent De Paul (Windsor) or Pulmonary Fibrosis Research. Prayers and viewing will be held at FAMILIES FIRST, 1065 Lauzon (East Windsor) 519-969-5841 on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Parish and Knights of Columbus prayers 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, June 14, 2017 family and friends are invited to meet at Our Lady of Atonement Church for visitation from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow.
