TULIA -- Edna Marie Thomas, 96, passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, in the Jackson Chapel Church of God in Christ. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.A wake will take place on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.Edna Marie Nelson was born on Sept. 7, 1920, to Nathaniel and Eve Nelson in Frost, Texas. She was the youngest of four children. She attended schools in Frost, then later moved to Tulia and worked various jobs before attending nursing school after which she started working for Swisher Memorial Hospital where she enjoyed working with Emma Schulz, Darryl Nelson and a host of others.She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Thomas; her son, James Gill; her daughter, Tressie Jackson; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.She leaves behind to enjoy her memories seven granddaughters, Linda and Vincent Lestig of Blue Mound, Texas, Patricia Ann Davis of Amarillo, Linda Fay Releford of Fort Worth, Betty Allen of Tulia, Sharon and Jonathan Shaffer of Amarillo, Janice and Joe Strickland of Arlington and Vicky and Vernon Vaugh of Fort Worth. Also five grandsons, Anthony and Ann Davis of Amarillo, Clifford and Tonya Jackson of Fort Worth, Colin and Elonda Jackson of Atlanta, Ga., Ray and Dana Gill of Amarillo and Ivory and Nita Gill of Houston, 46 great-grandchildren, 56 great-great-grandchildren, seven great-great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.Online condolences may be made at www.kornerstonefunerals.com
