Edmund J. Lorenz Edmund J. Lorenz, loving husband of 57 years to Baerbel, dad to Annette Lane (Dwight), Steven (Eva), and Matthew, beloved 'Opa' to his cherished grandchildren Alex, Isabel, and Emma, brother to Anneliese Olson, uncle to a niece, nephews, and cousins, accepted the Lord's hand and followed Him on June 24, 2017. We love you and miss you. These last three years were very difficult for him, his health declining rapidly, robbing him of enjoying life to the fullest. He never complained about this, but he is now at peace. Ed's adventure began with a boat trip from Germany, where he was born on Nov. 2, 1935, arriving in America on Nov. 11, 1955 at age 20. His trade as a cabinet maker made it possible for his sponsor to find him work where he would also learn to speak the English language. In later years he decided to switch to carpentry, from which he retired in 1998. Soccer was his life. In earlier years he played on several men's teams in the Tacoma-Seattle area. He scored many a winning goal, according to old newspaper clippings. His love and knowledge of the game prompted him to share this passion by coaching youth teams in South Hill Puyallup for over 30 years. Being recognized as one of the founders of South Hill Soccer Club, he won the WA State Premier Championship with the South Hill Oilers in 1980. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Puyallup. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or your favorite youth soccer club. We extend gratitude to Rick and Renate, our brother and sister-in-law who supported and loved us. A celebration of Ed's life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, to be announced at a later date.
