Edith J. Raponi Hawley, age 91, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2016, at her home, with her daughter by her side. She was born on May 10, 1925, in Erie, to the late Lorenzo and Theresa (Balestieri) Raponi. She met the love of her life, Barrett "Bud" Hawley, and within six months they were married on October 12, 1946. They had 63 wonderful years together. The love they created was spread to her surviving daughter, Deborah Brasington and her husband Robert, granddaughter, Danielle Linse and her husband Jake of Golden, Colo. and grandson, Robert Brasington of Denver, Colo. Her warmth continued on to the newest generation of great-grandchildren, Ella and Finn Linse. A special niece and godchild Marion Ramont and her husband Robert of Atlanta, Ga. were always only a phone call away to brighten her days. Sincere thanks goes to Jackie DeFazio and Carol LeCorchick for their love and support. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Joseph Raponi and her sister, Rose Ostrowski. A thanks of gratitude goes to the VNA for their kind care. Edith graduated from Strong Vincent High School and entered the workforce at Bliley Electronics. She later worked as a secretary at both the Social Security Administration and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, from which she retired after twenty years of service, to take care of her grandchildren. As a devoted Catholic, she and her husband were founding members of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. There will be no calling hours, at her request. Private funeral arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
