Mr. Earl Leonard Lewis of Creston died on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson. He was 87.

Mr. Lewis was born on May 13, 1926, in Ashe County to the late Everett and Beatrice Cornette Lewis.

In addition to his parents; he was also preceded in death by three wives, Esther Lewis, Lillian Lewis and Bertha Lewis; two sisters; and one brother.

Mr. Lewis enjoyed working on the farm and woodworking. He would often make repairs to furniture and farm tools for people. He enjoyed attending churches in the area.

Mr. Lewis is survived by son, David Glenn Lewis of Creston; daughter, Mary Clark of Van Buren, Ark.; brothers, Steve Lewis and Darrell Lewis, both of Pennsylvania, Johnny Lewis of Maryland, Clyde Lewis and James Lewis, both of Creston; sister, Tressie Roark of Hudson; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Brother Anthony Roark, Pastor Spencer Roark. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will be held in the Roark Cemetery.
