Duane L. Schramm Sr. Duane L. Schramm Sr. (Babe), 66, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016.He was born on June 21, 1950 in Akron, Ohio to Roy and Mildred Schramm. He had attended Ellet High School. Duane served his country in the Vietnam War during 1968-1974. He battled with Parkinson's Disease and cancer related to Agent Orange. Duane was a life member of the Mogadore VFW, American Legion, and the DAV. He enjoyed participating in the Chapparells Baton Drum Corps.Duane retired from the City of Akron after 30 years of service.He was preceded in death by his parents and half brother, Robert L. Schneider Sr.Duane is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Cassandra Schramm; children, Jodie L. Ratliff, Duane L. Schramm Jr.; grandchildren, Brooke and Austin Ratliff; brother, Ronald (Sherry) Schramm Sr.; close friend, William Flory; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss Duane dearly.Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
