Douglas Threatt, born on March 21, 1922, in Lancaster, California, passed away on May 02, 2023, at the age of 101. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.
Douglas was the son of Clarence and Abigail Threatt and grew up in the Lancaster area. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School. After graduation, Douglas enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a decorated veteran after many years of service.
After his military service, Douglas decided to pursue a career in education. He attended California State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Education in 1950. He later continued his education and earned a Master's degree in Education from California State University in 1960.
Douglas spent his career as an educator, teaching and inspiring students for over 30 years. He started his teaching career as a high school teacher in the Lancaster School District. He later transitioned to the Antelope Valley Unified School District, where he taught middle school students for many years.
Throughout his life, Douglas was an active member of his community and gave back in countless ways. He volunteered with the American Legion and was a mentor to many young people. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Douglas is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. He will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
In the traditional Yoruba way, and in accordance with Douglas‘s wishes, he will be cremated, and sent back to the motherland where his ashes will be spread.
A memorial celebration of Douglas’s life will be held at 45119 Watford ave Lancaster California on May 7th, 2023 a 11A.M. Please come dressed in white in accordance with our practices.
