Dorreen Hoard, 99, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed on October 10, 2021.
Dorreen Marie Hoard of Saginaw, Michigan, was born January 12,1922. Dorreen was the second child of seven born to John and Mildred McConnell of Schenectady, New York, where she grew up during the Great Depression, Dorreen had graduated from high school and helped with the upbringing of the younger siblings. That is until she had met the love of her live Jerry Hoard, shortly after they married in 1944 they moved to Michigan, where they started their family with having three children Clyde, Marjorie, and Elizabeth.
Dorreen earned her degree in child developement, and went on to teach at the St Mary's School for girls, where she taught the girls about proper etiqutte, home economics, and social studies, after 45 years of teaching Dorreen retired, yet remained very active in her community, working for the chamber of commerce and was very much into her local civics and planning of what you now see in Saginaw.
Dorreen was preceded in death by her husband Jerry (1976) and her son Clyde (2020) she never gave up hope though, as she dreame to see the century mark, gone way too soon from all of us. Dorreen used to say that she has seen more in her lifetime than what others would have seen in 150 years, something definitely to sit back and think about.
In her "off" she enjoyed watching baseball or even the occasional monster truck race, she was always asking what events the kids or grandkids or even great grandkids had, she wanted to make sure she wasn’t going to miss out, and she was everyone’s number one cheerleader.
Dorreen will be loved and missed by daughters Marjorie, and Elizabeth; 14 grandchildren: Raymond III (DeLane), Roger (Marcy), Brandi (Bud), Gail (JB), Rebecca (Jason), Brent, Nathan (Saundra), Jill. She also has 17 great-grand children and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both her parents, and both siblings.
At the family’s request, per CDC guidelines and Michigan health mandates currently in place, no public services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family asking that donations be made to the American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.
