DOROTHY RATH Dorothy Rath, 92, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2016 after a short illness. She was born on December 17, 1923 in Stevinson, CA, to Manuel and Ida Pedrozo, and was the youngest of four children. Dorothy's family moved to the Gridley area. She attended Gridley schools and graduated from Yuba College in 1943. She worked at the Ag Extension Office in Oroville following college. After WWII, Dorothy met the love of her life, John Rath, at a dance at the Veterans' Memorial Hall in Paradise, and they were married on November 25, 1951. John and Dorothy lived in Kirkwood and spent over 20 years working side-by-side on their turkey ranch. Dorothy loved spending time with her family. She was an avid fan of both Notre Dame football and San Francisco Giants baseball. She also enjoyed playing harmonica for family and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, John, of 53 years; brothers Raymond and Joseph, and sister Laura. She is survived by sons Ralph (Paula) Rath and Ron (Melody) Rath; and daughters Teresa (Max) Brown, Karen (Kevin) Bang, and Becky (Anthony) Flores, as well as 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 7 p.m. at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Orland. Services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic's. Burial to follow at the Kirkwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kirkwood Cemetery (Attn: Shawnee Flournoy, 2025 Hall Road, Corning, CA 96021.
