Dorothy Mae (Urich) Gutsue MichnerJacksonAge 88 of Jackson, formerly of Battle Creek for most of her life, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Dorothy was born on March 15, 1928 in Strawberry Point, Iowa to Floyd and Ruth (Shroyer) Urich. Dorothy put herself through Argubright Business School. She worked many jobs during the 50's and 60's, sometimes 2 or 3 at a time to buy a home and "make ends meet". She worked at the Fort Custer State Home, and from there she worked for the State of Michigan Highway Department until she retired.Dorothy is survived by her son, Mikeal (Toni) Gutsue of Bellevue, Michigan; grandson Mikeal (Kelly) Gutsue of Battle Creek, and two great granddaughters Karlee and Madison; grandson John (Jesse) Gutsue of Bellevue, great granddaughter Iris; step granddaughters Teresa (Dan) Wallace and Kristin (Shane) Miller; ten great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; brother Robert (Jane) Russell; special friend Linda Pluta; very dear sister in law, Vera Gutsue; and multiple nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many member of her second husband's (Walter Michner) family.Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth (Shroyer) Urich in 1936. Floyd married Caroline Stiede, her step mother for life. Floyd passed in 1978 and Caroline in 2000. Dorothy married John Mikeal Gutsue on January 9, 1948 and he was killed in a truck accident on August 19, 1948. She later met and fell in love with Walter Stanley Michner and they married in April of 1991 and he passed in November of 2002. Dorothy was also preceded in death by brothers in law, sisters in law, and a great niece. Dorothy enjoyed her yard, flower gardens and landscaping with her friend, Linda Pluta's help. She also enjoyed spending winters in Fort Lauderdale with her husband Walt.Services for Dorothy will be held in the chapel of St. John's Catholic Cemetery, 403 E.
