We mourn the passing of Dorothy Wilson, who was born on May 5, 1934, in Gary, West Virginia. She was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Ethel Hawkins.

Dorothy was married to Ellsworth Wilson Sr. in 1938 and together they raised their daughter, Yolonda Gilliam. She was a loving grandmother to her two grandchildren, Destini Nastassia Gilliam and Roderick Burtell Gilliam, II., as well as a great grandmother to Christopher Roderick Gilliam, Nicholas Isaiah Gilliam, Roderick Burtell Gilliam, III., Ri’Cky Douglass Gilliam, Akeelah Grace Gilliam, Ma’Kiya Lynn Gilliam and Rihley Nastassia Gilliam.

Dorothy attended Gary District High School and graduated in 1957. She had a passion for sewing and gardening, which brought her joy throughout her life.

On July 31, 2024, Dorothy passed away due to Congestive Heart Failure. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
