KOKOMO, Ind. — Donna B. Shaffer, 87, of Kokomo, Ind. passed away at 10:04 a.m. on Sept. 13, 2013 at her residence with her loving family at her side.

Donna was born on March 13, 1926 in Fort Wayne, Ind. to the late Harry and Gladys Rayl. When Donna was younger she enjoyed being a 4-H leader, and an accomplished seamstress. When she lived in Scotland County she was very involved in Senior Olympics and the local Senior Center. She was also very active in the Howard County Senior Center. At her church, Calvary Baptist, she headed up the organization in charge of the senior trips. She enjoyed traveling very much. Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, her church, and her family.

Survivors include her daughter Judy A. Hanks (Loren), four grandchildren: Dan Shelby, Angela Coble, Andrea Lopez, and Megan Decarlo, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Gladys Rayl, two daughters: Rita M. Shelby and Theresa L. Ballew, brother Robert Rayl, her husband Glenn E. Shaffer who passed in 1983, and her companion of eight years, John McDaniel.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. on Sept. 18, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church in Kokomo, with Pastor Jeff Sexton officiating. Services will follow and conclude at the church. Memorials in Donna's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be provided.
