Donald Schwartzmeier, 94, passed on September 28, 2020. He was born to Rita and Billy-bob in ZWB, Virginia on May 19, 1926.

He married Sarah in 1944 and they lived together in Fairbanks, Alaska. Together they raised 2 children Darius (Reba), David (Sandra). He is also survived by 2 grandchildren.

Donald graduated from Fairbanks high in 1940 and received a degree from the University of fairbanks in 1946.

Donald worked at Albertson’s until he retired in 2002 and was passionate about affecting the most positive change in people. He also volunteered at the Salvation army in 1966-1988. In 1987, Donald was honored with the Newberry.

Corporal Schwartzmeier served his country for 12 years as a Medic in the Third unit of the Navy.
