AUGUSTA, Ga. — Donald Mitchum "Mickey" Baxley, 65, formerly of Laurinburg passed away on Feb. 23, 2016.

Donald was born on July 14, 1951 in Scotland County, son of the late Thomas Baxley and Vaun Seal Stricklin Baxley. He was a former police officer with the Laurinburg Police Department and Scotland County Sheriff Department. Mickey moved to Augusta and worked in sales. He enjoyed playing golf and surf fishing at the beach.

Surviving are his son Donald "Mitch" Baxley, Jr., of Augusta, daughters Melissa Baxley of Hamlet, Collins Faulk of Fairmont, and Sydney Baxley of Augusta, his sisters Teresa B. Perkins and Toni B. Cox both of Laurinburg, special aunt Catherine Quick of Laurinburg, his grandchildren Bridgett, Miranda, Natalie, Riley, Mackenzie, and Brandi, and special nieces and nephew.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Pastor Kenneth Blease.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be at a later date.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made in his memory to the .
