Merced, California - Donald Avie, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 10, 2025. He was known for his warm smile, infectious laugh, and love for his family.
Donald was born in Pineville, Louisiana August 26, 1958. He spent his later years studying at Locke High School in Los Angeles, Ca where he made lifelong friendships. After school, Donald came to visit with family in Merced and met the love of his life, Evelyn. Donald and Evelyn share a loving and supportive union for 42 years. Donald and Evelyn shared and raised three children together - Gerald Madkins (Julie), Tameka Slaughter, and Demetrius Avie.
Donald had a passion for barbecue and loved spending time with his family, especially his nine grandchildren. He was always the life of the party and could make anyone feel welcome with his friendly personality.
Unfortunately, Donald lost his battle to cancer, accompanied by other health issues with his family by his side. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved him.
