Donald C. Sams, 85, of Shelby Township, formerly of Bad Axe, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Henry Ford Hospital in Clinton Township. Donald was born on Nov. 15, 1930, in Bad Axe, son of the late Lawrence and Martha (Bredow) Sams. He graduated from Michigan State College in 1953 and then served in the U.S. Army. Donald is survived by five sisters, Marge Hoops of Archbold, Ohio, Marilyn Radlick of Warren, Dorothy Reinke of Elkton, Jane Kinney of Lexington, Kentucky and Jean (Mel) Gingrich of Bad Axe; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Donald was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Sams; five brothers-in-law, Eldon Hill, Bill Hoops, Bernie Radlick, Bill Reinke and Norm Kinney; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Sams. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Interment will be in Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Sunday, at the Kaufman Funeral Home.
