Donald E. BoveyMarch 1, 1937 - November 4, 2016Palm Springs, CADonald E. Bovey, 79, formerly of York, passed away on November 4, 2016. Donald was born on March 1, 1937 in York and was the son of the late Alfred I. and Virginia M. (Kauffman) Bovey. He was a graduate of York Catholic High School. He spent 45 years as an Optician with Springdale Opticians and Spectacular Eye in York. Don often said, that if you lived in this town and wore glasses, chances are he knew you. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of York. He was also a member of the 13th Ward Republican Club and the Sawmill Hunting Club. Don was a Civil Service Commissioner with Spring Garden Township in York. Don enjoyed, golf, hunting and fishing and since retirement, traveled with his wife Phyllis to Spain, Italy, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and throughout the U.S. Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis (Wallick) of Palm Springs; a daughter, Dianne Tutino and her husband, Tony of York; a son, Jason Bovey and his partner, Bruce Troupe of Palm Springs, CA; and another son, Chris Bovey and his wife, Melissa of Forestville, CA; two grandchildren, Brian Tutino of Boston, MA and Andrew Tutino of York; his dog, Max; a sister, June Bookman of York; and several nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and had a joke for every occasion. Funeral Services will be at the convenience of the family. Wiefels Mortuary in Palm Springs, CA is assisting with arrangements. Burial will be at Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Memorial contributions may be made to the .
