LAGRANGE — Don "Clifford" Davenport Jr., 76, of LaGrange died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at his residence. He was born on June 6, 1938. in Angola to Don C. and Josephine (Hart) Davenport Sr. Don came to LaGrange in 1978 from Angola. He worked as a printer. He owned and operated D&M Printing for 25 years in LaGrange. Don was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders and was the area representative for many years. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post #215. On April 15, 1978, he married Melody A. Budd in Coldwater, Michigan. She survives in LaGrange. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Chassidy and Dean Slater of Fort Wayne; a son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Dawn Davenport of Angola; three grandchildren, Jordan, Dakota and Michael. His parents; a sister, Fredericka "Ricky" Davenport, and two brothers, Larry and Ernie Davenport, preceded Don in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 10, at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, with the Rev. Tamra Gerber officiating. Burial will take place in Circle Cemetery, Hudson, Indiana. The LaGrange American Legion Post #215 will conduct military rites. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 9, from 4-8 p.m. Memorials may be contributed to Riley Children's Foundation.
