Dominic John Ellena, 80, of Plainview passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, in Lubbock. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Dr. Richard Shaw officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.Dominic was born on March 18, 1936, in Iron River, Michigan, to Peter and Minnie Ellena. He was raised in Michigan and attended schools there. He married Elaine Thomas on April 8, 1960, in Lansing, Michigan. They moved to Plainview, Texas, in 1980. He was a self-employed mechanic for many years. Dominic was active in helping his neighbors on Navajo Trail improve their homes in many ways. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Minnie Ellena; three brothers, Tony, Theodore and Peter Ellena; and his dog, Shep.Survivors include his wife, Elaine Ellena of Plainview; four daughters, Anna Ellena and husband Pete Lopez of Plainview, Tammy Montgomery and husband Mark of Sulphur Springs, Elaine Anderson and husband Roy of Sulphur Springs, Cathy Gonzales and husband Manuel of Napels, Fla.; two brothers, George Ellena and wife Sue of Michingan, Terry Ellena of Michigan; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and his dog Trooper that he loved just as much as his children.Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.Online condolences can be sent at www.kornerstonefunerals.com.
