Dolores Quiroz Nava, of La Grange, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2023 in her beloved Mexico City at the age of 97 years. Dolores was born in Mexico City on March 13, 1926 to parents Marina Madrid and Jose Quiroz. Following in the footsteps of her aunt, "Tia Yaya", she studied nursing and enjoyed a career as a nurse in her 20's, becoming the head nurse at the Hospital De La Torre in Mexico City. Dolores married her childhood sweetheart, Felipe Nava Arreola and they immigrated to Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood in 1956 as one of the first Mexican families in the community and subsequently moved to Pilsen "La Dieciocho" neighborhood and eventually to La Grange, Illinois in 1985. Dolores was always full of life and loved being around her family and in particular had a passion for singing the classic Mexican "Boleros" y "Rancheras". In recent years, she especially enjoyed attending the activities and events of her thirteen (13) grandchildren and seven (7) great grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family and enjoyed watching her telenovelas and Chicago baseball. Dolores, known as "Abuelita" to her family was the loving wife of Felipe Nava Arreola for more than 50 years. Devoted mother to Joseph Nava (Ruth), Marina Nava Gonzalez (Manuel) and Phillip Nava (Martha). Proud Grandmother of Alexander Nava (Ellie), Rebecca Nava (Ben), Veronica Isabel Nava Soto de Hanna (Sean), Olivia Ann Nava, Benjamin Eduardo Nava, Darlene Nava Munoz (Shaka), Michelle Nava Moffett (Nathan), Manuel Nava Gonzalez, Britnimarina "Britni" Nava Gonzalez, Sofia Marie Nava, Nikolina Elaine Nava, Ruben Rafael Nava and Cristian Felipe Nava. Elated Great Grandmother of Emiliano "Emi" Nava, Tenoch Nava Bauer, Paloma Nava Bauer, Valentina Corazon Nava Hanna, Keira Nava Moffett, Aiden Robert Moffett and Atzin Gene Munoz-Clark. Loving sister to Guadalupe Quiroz Madrid (Antonio Parra), Josefina Quiroz Madrid (Manuel Gonzalez), Ernestina Howard Madrid (Gustavo Cordero) and Guillermo Howard Madrid.
Visitation held at Velatorios Union Tepeyac in Mexico City, Mexico on November 13, 2023. Interment with prayer service at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1400 S Wolf Rd, Hillside, IL on November 18, 2023 at 11:30am -12:30pm. Private gathering for family and close friends to follow at Phil & Martha's house.
