Dixie West Martin, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. She was born on February 18, 1929. Born and raised in Williamsburg, KY, she would later attend Moorehead State University in Moorehead, KY where she received her Bachelors in Education. In Williamsburg, at Cumberland College, she started her Masters program, which she would then complete her degree through the University of Arizona after her relocation to Yuma. Mrs. Martin taught fourth grade at Roosevelt and Palmcroft Elementary Schools for 26 years before retiring in 1989. She was a wife, mother, Grandmother "Nana", aunt, Christian, Kentuckian, teacher, and a good neighbor. She loved to cook for her family, enjoyed tending her garden and taking pictures of her granddaughters. But most of all, she is someone who is still loved dearly and will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Martin; her daughter, Glenda K. Foster; and her brother, Alfred G. West. She is survived by her son, James Martin (Dru); granddaughters, Kristin Marie and Lea Paige; niece, Debbie Irby; nephew, Paul West.
