Diana Lynne GurskyABILENE, TXDiana Lynne Gursky, 60, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Abilene from complications of cancer. She was born on November 5, 1955 to parents Donald E. Gursky and Patricia J. Young Gursky. She was a 1974 graduate of Cooper High School in Abilene. Diana worked in hospitality maintenance at several area hotels and loved her co-workers. She was devastated when she had to stop working due to her illness. In her adult years, having been part an air-force family, she was a member of the VFW. She enjoyed fishing in the U.P. of Michigan, playing softball, watching football, NASCAR racing and just sitting, chatting with a cold beer in hand. Diana also enjoyed Facebook and computer games. She recently had reconnected, after many, many years, with several members of her family on FB. She thought it was such a hoot to have the ability to interact with people from all over the world through her computer games. She is survived by he siblings, Rene McBride of Abilene, Susan Rains and husband Larry of Abilene, Gay Kandt and husband Greg of El Paso; many first cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; dear friend and caregiver, Melba Wilson, Tonya, "Gita", Miss Jean and many, many others.Diana was preceded in death by her parents, and dear friend, Ladeana Toche.Heartfelt thanks to Melba Wilson for giving Diana a warm, secure, home and care; and Hospice of the Big Country for their daily monitoring and care during her very difficult struggle with cancer. It was Diana's wish that there be no remembrance or memorial service for her. It is our wish that you remember her for being the fiercely independent, sarcastically funny and sweet soul that she was. Memorial donations can be made in her name to the Abilene V.F.W., The Big Country Audubon Society or Hospice of the Big Country.
