Derek Martin, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 10, 2026, in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. He was born on April 11, 1933, to William Rapp and Christina Jarvis.

Derek is survived by his two children, Jonathan Martin and David Martin. He studied at Bow High School and graduated in 1948. Derek was working as an actor famously as Charlie slater in eastenders until his retirement in from 2004- 2015.

Aside from his successful acting career, Derek also served in the Royal Air Force and devoted his free time to his hobbies of acting, reading, and writing.

Derek will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
