With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Debra Jean Elston (née Carter) or Debbie to most on January 18, 2025, at the age of 71.
Debbie was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who touched the lives of everyone she knew.
Born on July 29, 1953, to Harold Lee Roy and Lois Fern Carter, she grew up in a home filled with love and the joy of family. She shared countless cherished memories with her seven siblings: Roy Carter, Joyce Fitzgerald, Patricia Roberts, Larry Carter, Ricky Carter, Gary Carter, and Sheila Carter. The bond they shared was one of love, laughter, and enduring connection.
She was not only a devoted mother to her two children, Tammy Elston (deceased) and James Elston (surviving), but also a cherished aunt to multiple generations of nieces and nephews, who adored her deeply and will treasure the memories of her love. Debbie worked tirelessly throughout her life to provide for her family, showing her strength and dedication. In her free time, she loved watching old westerns, listening to the timeless hits of the 50s and '60s on her beloved jukebox, and especially enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley. Dr. Pepper was her drink of choice, and she adored the color red, which seemed to reflect her vibrant personality.
Debbie's legacy is one of love, resilience, and generosity. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her dedication to family, and the joy she brought to those fortunate enough to know her.
